Last Minute Desperate Attacks

The last minute desperate attacks have begun.

Have you seen those signs all over the district saying “Amnesty for Illegal Workers?”  Yep, that phone number on the sign is my home number.

Someone wants you to believe that I’m for Amnesty.  It’s a last minute desperate attack that won’t work. I’m the only candidate with a plan to fight illegal immigration in South Carolina.

Here’s a brief explanation of my plan from the Greenwood Index Journal.  These comments were made at a voter forum sponsored by the Saluda Lions Club last week:

Massey said illegal immigration is an example of what he means when he says he wants to “shake things up a bit.”

He said Georgia has implemented laws as have other states.

“The result of that was that a lot of Southeastern states, a lot of our neighboring states toughened their laws on immigration. We didn’t because we had people who were too busy fighting each other up in Columbia to get anything done. And the result is, and y’all know this in Saluda, the result is that we’re starting to see an influx of more illegal immigrants in this area.”

Massey gave the crowd four steps on how to address illegal immigration in the district:

1. Make sure local law enforcement has the authority to work with others to make a change.

2. Make it a crime to harbor or transport illegal immigrants.

3. Verify identity of employees.

4. Take a closer look at identity theft and fake identification.
