Shane Massey elected to South Carolina Senate District 25 in Recount
NBC-Augusta
The race for South Carolina Senate District 25 has been decided. Republican Shane Massey won the election in a recount Thursday. He’ll represent Aiken, Edgefield, McCormick and Saluda counties.
The recount was necessary because less than one-percent of votes separated Massey from his opponent Democrat Bill Clyburn.
Massey beat Clyburn by 138 votes.
Clyburn will continue as a state representative.
Massey replaces Tommy Moore who left the position this summer.
The South Carolina GOP Chairman Katon Dawson released this statement:“I want to congratulate Shane Massey, his wife Blair and his campaign team on their historic win. We are extremely excited to welcome Shane to Columbia, and we look forward to working with him to make state government effective and efficient.”
